Benefits of using oil when dermaplaing:

1. More slip / less friction The biggest advantage is glide. A thin oil layer reduces drag between the blade and skin, which can make passes feel smoother—especially on dry, mature, or thin skin.

2. Can reduce irritation / post-treatment erythema
Less friction often means:
less superficial microtrauma
less redness
less “windburn” sensation afterward
This can be helpful for:
sensitive skin
mature skin (40+)
barrier-impaired or dehydrated skin

3. More comfortable for dry or flaky skin
Oil can soften:
surface keratin buildup
flaky patches
rough texture
That can make peach fuzz and dead skin easier to remove evenly.

4. Better for combination treatments (a HUGE reason why for us at TXA😉🎯)
If you’re pairing dermaplane with:
facial massage
lymphatic drainage
barrier-repair facials
hydrating treatments
Oil can fit nicely into a more “luxury facial” protocol.

5. Less chances of nicks and cuts if you are a newbie or still gaining confidence in your DP skills!

Oil isn’t ideal for every dermaplane treatment- THIS is why its important to be trained properly or go to someone who is an expert in their craft!
